Dr. Stacey Makhanova is an Assistant Professor in Social Psychology. She got her BA from Hendrix College and her MS and PhD from Florida State University.

Her interest in studying human social behavior was sparked by observations of animal behavior. She loves watching Planet Earth, as well as other documentaries narrated by (Sir) David Attenborough, and her earliest research projects focused on animal behavior (including observations of hummingbird territoriality in Costa Rica during her Animal Behavior study abroad course while at Hendrix).

Her current research continues to focus on biological and adaptive bases for human social behavior. She is interested in how various hormone processes affect social perception and considers herself a social psychologist and an evolutionary psychologist.
